Growth, as it turns out, sometimes looks a lot like telling the world about your worst moments…and laughing about it. Beforetheone started with a simple realization: I kept replaying old relationship stories in my head, but not the way I used to. Instead of pointing fingers, I started asking myself, ‘Where did I go wrong? What could I have done better?‘
Beforetheone wasn’t created just to share stories about the journey to finding ‘the one.’ It’s about the honest, sometimes painful process of recognizing the ways we fell short, how we learned to forgive ourselves, and how we grew into people capable of giving and receiving better love. It’s about recognizing that the most important relationship we work on isn’t with someone else but the one we build with ourselves.
This blog isn’t just about the hilarious trainwrecks we’ve experienced along the way (although trust me, we love a good story). It’s about embracing the fact that growth comes from owning our part of the story and not just blaming our exes or our past. It’s about self-awareness, accountability, and humility. And it’s about laughing at ourselves, because honestly, what better choice do we have?
Plus, research backs it up: psychologists have found humor to be one of the healthiest coping mechanisms we can have. When we can laugh at the weird, embarrassing, and downright bad choices we’ve made, we’re not minimizing the pain — we’re processing it. We’re giving ourselves the freedom to heal, learn, and move forward without shame weighing us down.
Beforetheone is about the humbling, messy, character building journey we’re all on as we navigate this thing called love. And maybe even more importantly, it’s about the journey of becoming the right person ourselves. So here, we share stories.
